Education × Immersive

A new form of educational setting based on the concept of a “Classroom of the Future.”

■ Customer Introduction
At NTT EAST, Inc. (Headquarters: Shinjuku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Naoki Shibuya; hereinafter referred to as NTT East), various implementation case studies addressing social issues across a wide range of fields—including primary industries, manufacturing and logistics, retail, culture, arts and sports, and disaster prevention—are introduced at the demonstration and experience field "NTT e-City Labo," which aims to realize a regional circular society.
Among these is a training facility focused on education called the “Classroom of the Future,” where Immersive Inc.'s Immersive Magic Wall has been installed.

■ Challenges Before Implementation
Under the concept of the “Classroom of the Future,” which incorporated various ICT devices, they explored ways to use large digital displays instead of traditional blackboards or whiteboards.
However, they faced challenges such as the high cost of LED displays, and with conventional projectors that projected onto white walls, the room had to be darkened, making it difficult to see the materials at hand. They were thus searching for a solution that could overcome these issues.

An electronic blackboard utilizing video and photos that allows for clear visibility of students’ facial expressions.

■ Results of Implementation
The Immersive Magic Wall, which uses quantum dot technology—a material that emits light by retaining it—is a proprietary projector coating developed by the company. It delivers significantly higher contrast projection compared to standard white wall projections.

As a result of its implementation, clear projection of materials became possible even while maintaining room brightness. This not only allowed it to function effectively as an electronic blackboard but also contributed to creating an environment where students’ facial expressions can be easily seen. The color reproduction is also vivid, avoiding the typical washed-out appearance of standard projectors.

Since it is far more cost-effective and sustainable than LED displays, it is considered an ideal solution that perfectly aligns with the concept of the “Classroom of the Future.”

Future Outlook

At NTTe-city Labo, demonstration and experiential fields like the “Classroom of the Future” will be expanded across various genres.

By providing visitors with overwhelmingly immersive experiences—including through the use of the Immersive Engine installed in other areas of NTTe-city Labo—NTT East aims to contribute to the realization of a regional circular society.

In the spring of 2025, we participated as an exhibitor in a trade show hosted by Epson Sales Co., Ltd. At the “Immersive × Office & Meeting Room” booth, we showcased both the “Immersive Engine” and “Immersive Magic Wall” as new office solutions leveraging immersive experiences—aimed at supporting work style reform and enhancing meeting productivity. Branded as “Immersive Meeting,” our presentation introduced a next-generation immersive conference solution. The technology demonstrated strong compatibility with Epson’s high-brightness 3LCD projectors, which deliver vivid, high-luminance visuals—offering attendees a deeply immersive experience.

    ■ Introduction of the Client NTT EAST, Inc. (Headquarters: Shinjuku, Tokyo, President: Naoki Shibuya, hereafter referred to as NTT East),examples of implementing solutions to various social issues—spanning primary industries, manufacturing, logistics, retail, culture, arts, sports, disaster prevention, and more—are being showcased at the NTT e-City Labo, a field dedicated to demonstrating and experiencing the realization of a regional circular society. This time, we have introduced the Immersive Engine and Immersive Magic Wall to NTT e-City Labo. ■ Challenges Before Implementation At NTT e-City Labo, visitors are introduced to real, operational examples on-site of solutions addressing regional social issues, such as smart agriculture greenhouses. This has enabled visitors to resonate strongly with these initiatives and has created opportunities to develop new regional solutions in collaboration with the local community. However, conveying the real experience of remote locations, like smart agriculture greenhouses or regional events aimed at boosting community activity, has posed a challenge in visitor engagement.

To a meeting space that fosters active communication

・Client Introduction "FinGATE CLUB," operated by HEIWA REAL ESTATE CO., LTD. (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Kiyoyuki Tsuchimoto), is a membership-based community lounge located in the Nihonbashi Kabutocho and Kayabacho area. It aims to accelerate the development of a startup ecosystem, focusing primarily on emerging asset management firms, fintech companies, and other financial startups. Targeting registered entrepreneurs, investors, and other key players, the lounge strives to create a "community where people gather, and investment and growth are born." ・Challenges Before Implementation "FinGATE CLUB" has a meeting space equipped with a projector in one corner of the facility. Until now, the projector was used in a conventional manner, projecting images onto a white wall. However, ensuring high visibility of visuals and materials required dimming the room’s lighting, which made it difficult for participants to see documents in front of them and observe each other's facial expressions. As a result, presentations tended to become one-way and less interactive, posing a challenge for effective communication.
