Discovering New Possibilities in Communication Spaces with the Projector Professionals

Epson Sales Japan Corporation handles the domestic marketing and sales for the Seiko Epson Group, offering solution proposals through office automation equipment.
In January 2026, they opened "Epson XaILab," a corporate solution center located in the Shinjuku Miraina Tower. "XaILab" functions as a co-creation lab that fuses Experience and Innovation.

To realize the evolution from a traditional product showcase showroom to a solution center that works closely with customers to solve their challenges, Immersive was selected as a partner. We handled the implementation of the "Immersive Engine" in two locations within the facility, as well as the production of "original CG content" for the 360° immersive space.

For this article, we spoke with Mr. Kozawa and Mr. Matsuyama from the Marketing Communications Department at Epson Sales Japan Corporation, who drove this project forward. We asked them about the "update of communication spaces" brought about by combining projectors with the Immersive Engine.

"They Might Be the Best Partner" — The Immersive Solution Expanding the Possibilities of Projectors

First, we spoke with Mr. Kozawa, who was primarily in charge of designing the external communication spaces for the launch of this facility.

◾️Challenges Before Implementation
In the past, the Epson showroom was strictly a "place to show products." At the same time, the projector market was becoming increasingly commoditized due to spec wars, creating a need for new sales proposals. Mr. Kozawa recalls the situation at the time: "While exploring new possibilities using projectors, Immersive was introduced to us with the suggestion that they 'might be the best partner.'"

◾️Decisive Factors for Implementation
During the consideration phase, the team experienced an immersive space at the Immersive showroom in Ebisu. Reflecting on his impression at the time, Mr. Kozawa states, "I felt a 'WOW' moment, as if a new door to projector utilization had opened." Sparked by this experience, the following three points were cited as the key factors leading to the implementation of the Immersive Engine:

・Expansion of proposal breadth through the combination with projector technology
・Intuitive operability via tablet
・Overwhelming space-saving design

The high expandability and practicality of the Immersive Engine were highly evaluated, leading to our selection as a partner for creating a new solution space.

Utilization of Two Immersive Spaces Powered by Projectors × Immersive Engine

We asked Mr. Kozawa to explain how the combination of Epson projectors and the Immersive Engine is supporting the resolution of communication challenges in two spaces within the facility.

◾️Immersive Theater (360° Immersive Space): A Communication Space to Deepen Brand Understanding
"Epson Sales Japan places immense value on communication. This is a space designed to answer the challenges companies face, such as 'how to demonstrate corporate branding' and 'forming customer communication in a physical space.' By using the immersive space, we create moving experiences alongside original CG content, allowing visitors to experience the potential for deepening corporate understanding."

The spatial × content expression powered by the Immersive Engine enables the intuitive sharing of corporate messages that cannot be fully conveyed through words or flat materials alone.

◾️Inspire Lounge (Immersive Meeting Space): A Communication Space to Accelerate Decision-Making
"In physical meetings where everyone looks at small PC screens, gaps in understanding and enthusiasm arise, slowing down decision-making. The solution to this is a 'shared line of sight,' where participants look at the same thing simultaneously. By combining large-screen projection with the Immersive Engine's ability to project multiple pieces of information onto a single screen, along with excellent control, we can offer problem-solving proposals that only an immersive setup can achieve."

Mr. Kozawa continues, noting that the value brought by this "shared line of sight" extends beyond normal meetings.

"The same applies as a BCP (Business Continuity Planning) hub in times of emergency. During a disaster, real-time decision-making is required while simultaneously viewing multiple pieces of information, such as early warnings and on-the-ground conditions. The Immersive Engine, capable of simultaneous information output, is a strong selling point for customers, and we have received impressed feedback from visitors saying, 'The simultaneous 5-screen display is overwhelming.' Through the combination of technologies, it's no longer just about 'projecting,' but making the 'effects of projecting' visibly apparent."

The overwhelming information projection provided by projectors and the Immersive Engine strongly supports swift decision-making in any scenario.

From a "Product-Centric Approach" to "Proposing Spatial Value." The Transformation of Sales Approaches Driven by the Immersive Engine

Solution proposals through immersive experiences have changed more than just the value provided to customers. Mr. Matsuyama, who was in charge of communication design from a sales perspective, reveals the challenges he felt regarding the internal sales style at Epson Sales Japan as follows:

"There was a passion to change our conventional sales style by utilizing XaILab. In the past, the typical entry point for sales was pitching things like, 'We have a new product' or 'It has this many lumens.'"

To break away from traditional product-centric sales, the combination of projectors and the Immersive Engine served as a powerful driving force. Mr. Matsuyama further shares his vision of shifting towards appealing to value through the entire space.

"I want to change our sales by demonstrating not just the 'appeal of the projector,' but the 'benefits achieved through the projector.' In that regard, I feel the introduction of the Immersive Engine is extremely catchy and easy to understand."

Accelerating the Resolution of Communication Challenges for All Companies. The Next Challenge Envisioned Through a Strong Partnership

This initiative is proof of a "co-creation" where Epson Sales Japan Corporation, aiming for new value propositions, resonated with Immersive's technology that maximizes spatial value. Regarding future prospects, Mr. Kozawa concluded as follows:

"Moving forward, we want to combine the Immersive Theater and the Inspire Lounge to promote use cases that make it easier for more people to participate. Also, by utilizing the 360° space, I would love to show people spaces they usually rarely get to see, such as factories in remote locations. I expect new communication possibilities to expand from there."

The creation of an immersive environment in a physical space, along with the subsequent formation of "shared awareness" and acceleration of decision-making, serves as an extremely powerful solution for companies.

Epson Sales Japan Corporation and Immersive will further deepen their partnership and continue to walk together toward solving the challenges of many companies in the future.

Since then, it has been utilized as an important hub for communicating the company's history and its strengths, such as plant maintenance services and long-cultivated technical capabilities, to visitors.

    CAD CENTER CORPORATION (Headquarters: Shiba, Minato-ku, Tokyo) is a company whose core strength lies in the visualization domain, primarily utilizing 3DCG. They have produced numerous experiential content pieces for exhibition facilities and other venues, leveraging spatial design with a prerequisite of immersion and interactivity. Their content spans a wide variety of types, predominantly consisting of experiences where the true value is conveyed through actual hands-on experience rather than simple verbal explanation. For this project, they implemented our "Immersive Engine" and "Immersive Magic Wall." Furthermore, to enable rapid switching between diverse content displays tailored to each client, we also provided customization of the operation tablet interface. Rather than treating visual projection onto a space as the final goal, we backward-engineered the design based on "how it will be used," comprehensively designing the entire experience down to its seamless operability.
