Immersive Takes Part in International Symposium “immersiVenice” in Italy. Japan-Born Immersive Technology Is Now Drawing Attention Overseas.
On June 16, 2026, Immersive was invited to speak online at the symposium "immersiVenice: i media immersivi tra ricerca e territorio," held at Ca' Foscari University of Venice in Venice, Italy, where the company presented its work.
The symposium brought together representatives from research institutions, companies, and the culture and arts sectors, featuring active discussion on the social implementation of immersive media and the potential for collaboration between academia and industry.
A Speaking Opportunity at Ca' Foscari University of Venice, Born from a Website Inquiry
This speaking opportunity came about through an invitation from Ms. Keiko Kusakabe, who has long been engaged in cultural and industrial exchange between Japan and Italy, together with Ms. Roberta Novielli.
Ms. Roberta Novielli is a professor at Ca' Foscari University of Venice. Widely recognized as a leading authority on Japanese cinema, she has written numerous books on Japanese film and animation. She founded the Ca' Foscari Short Film Festival, and in 2026 established immersiVenice, a university spin-off dedicated to research and development in immersive media. In 2019, she received the Foreign Minister's Commendation in recognition of her long-standing contribution to promoting Japanese culture internationally.
Ms. Kusakabe is a leading figure in cultural and industrial exchange connecting Japan and Italy. For many years, she has planned and coordinated international projects and cultural initiatives between the two countries. In recognition of her contributions to promoting exchange between Japan and Italy, she was decorated as a Cavaliere of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
The opportunity arose as both individuals were researching leading examples and potential partner companies worldwide while preparing to launch an immersive media business in Italy. In the course of this research, they took interest in the case studies and activities published on our website, which led to this invitation to speak.
We see their decision to focus on Immersive, a Japan-born solution, after surveying immersive-related companies and examples from around the world, as one example of how our work is being recognized beyond Japan's borders.
Bringing the Concept of a "Space OS" to the World
The theme of our presentation was the concept of "Immersive Engine as a Space Operating System." Reframing physical space itself as an OS that can be operated, we introduced concrete use cases showing how space-based communication is evolving and how Immersive is being used in real business settings.
The presentation drew strong interest from attendees, providing an opportunity to highlight the potential of immersive technology across the fields of education, research, industry, healthcare, and culture.
Going forward, we will continue to exchange information on potential partnerships and joint projects in the Italian market.
Japan-Born Immersive Technology, Now Drawing Attention from Around the World
Immersive's mission is to move "from conveying information to sharing experiences."
This speaking engagement reaffirmed that the spaces we create for sharing experience are gaining expectations as a new communication infrastructure, not only in Japan but also at the forefront of research and industry in Europe. We will continue to share Japan-born immersive technology with the world, in collaboration with research institutions and companies both in Japan and abroad.
